The Support Service can offer the following services: |

Assisting the service user in making benefit applications, appeals and attending reviews |

Providing information and advice on local services and amenities available in the community |

Making referrals to other more specialist support services if the service user needs them e.g. home- |
| |
care for older people etc |

Offering practical assistance with furnishing the service user’s home by helping with applications for |
| |
financial help and referring them to community furniture projects |
| » |
Advising on debt management, budgeting and rent payment |
| » |
Getting services such as gas and electricity connected and accounts set-up |
| » |
Offering emotional support or giving the service user the chance to talk to someone |
| » |
Attending important appointments with the service user and, where appropriate, case conferences |
| |
with other service providers |
| » |
Providing information on education and work opportunities |
| » |
Advice/encouragement on personal care and maintaining a safe, clean home |
| » |
Providing advice and assistance with personal safety both inside and outside the service user’s home |
| » |
Providing advice and assistance on health matters |
| » |
Advising the service user on keeping to the terms of their tenancy |
| » |
Advising on re-housing options if the service user’s home is no longer suitable for them and practical |
| |
assistance to help them find alternative accommodation. |

Providing specialist advice in respect of physical disability and services, equipment and facilities for |
| |
disabled people. |

Providing the service user with support in an appropriate language where possible. |
